Solubility test of 1g MK677 in DMSO

MK677 (Ibutamoren) is a drug that can promote the secretion of growth hormone and is of great interest in the fields of bodybuilding, anti-aging and medical research. Its powder form is a commonly sold form, so understanding its solubility helps in the preparation of the MK677 solution. DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide), as a highly polar organic solvent, is widely used in the dissolution of compounds because of its extensive dissolution ability. In this experiment, we will test the solubility of 1g MK677 in DMSO to further evaluate its feasibility as a solvent for MK677.

Purpose of the experiment

Test the solubility of 1g MK677 in DMSO to see if it fully dissolves and the amount of DMSO required. At the same time, the state changes during the dissolution process were observed to provide data support for the preparation of uniform and stable solution.

Experimental steps

Initial test: 2ml DMSO was added

After taking 1g of MK677 powder and adding 2ml of DMSO, we used ultrasonic shock to help them dissolve fully. Under the ultrasonic wave, we can see that the MK677 powder is quickly integrated into the solvent, but some of the powder is still undissolved.

Continue testing: Add another 2ml of DMSO

Because 2ml DMSO does not completely dissolve 1g MK677 raw powder. Let's add another 2ml of DMSO. So far, we've added a total of 4ml of DMSO. Follow the previous steps and use ultrasound to help dissolve.

However, after ultrasonic assistance, we still saw that some of the powder did not dissolve. Next we will add another 2ml of DMSO solvent.

After increasing the DMSO solution to 6ml and also using ultrasonic shock to help dissolve, it was found that a little powder was not dissolved. Looks like we need more solvent.

Now we increase the solvent DMSO to 8ml. Same ultrasound. OH, now we can see that it's completely dissolved.

Therefore, in our experiment, 8ml DMSO solvent was required to completely dissolve 1g MK677 powder.

Stability observation

To verify the stability of the solution, the completely dissolved sample was left to stand for 24 hours to see if any precipitate appeared or the solution was stratified. After one day of standing, the solution remained clear and transparent without any particles or stratification, indicating that the solution after DMSO dissolved MK677 had high stability.

Conclusion

DMSO's strong polarity and good intermolecular interaction ability enable it to quickly destroy the intermolecular forces of MK677, thus promoting dissolution. In addition, the high stability of DMSO allows the solution of MK677 in it to maintain a clear state for a long time and is suitable as a solvent for long-term storage.
